“I combine my passion for art and conservation to create works that express my experiences and have a positive impact on the environment.”
Charity Oetgen is a Southern California based artist specializing in oil and watercolor paintings of animals. Her combined interests in arts and wildlife have taken her to Africa and across the Americas in pursuit of her favorite subject matter: bonobos. Friends of Bonobo named her a signature artist and designer of
their fundraising images.
She has developed a remarkable career as both an internationally recognized artist and a champion of animal conservation. National Geographic recently published six of her gorilla watercolors that highlights the Dian Fossey legacy.
As a painter and conservationist, her goal is to create a dedicated moment that offers viewers the chance to emotionally engage with the issues and the inhabitants and illustrate what we stand to gain or lose in our efforts.
Charity holds a Master of Fine Arts degree at Laguna College of Art + Design in Laguna Beach, California. Collectors of her artwork include Jane Goodall, the ARCUS Foundation, Claudine Andre of Lola Ya Bonobo, Annette Lanjouw, and Damien Mander of the International Anti-Poaching Foundation.
